Horse Brand Titanium Pack Knives with Rat King Frames

New York’s Horse Brand teamed up with Washington-based Rat King Frames on a run of Titanium Pack Knives ($165), which weigh only 27 grams and are perfect as an EDC item, box cutter, apple slicer, or to haul along on your next camping trip. We got our hands on one ahead of today’s launch, so let’s check it out…

The titanium Pack Knife is made from the same robust Grade 5 titanium used in bicycle frames and in aerospace applications. Grade 5 or 6Ai-4v is a Titanium alloy with incredible mechanical integrity. These knives are CNC milled one at a time at Smith Levi from Rat King Frames’s Washington facilities.

Titanium is virtually unbreakable in flat stock form and is extremely lightweight with a superior strength-to-weight ratio. Titanium is inert and virtually impervious to any corrosive medium. It will never rust, ever. It is non-magnetic and will not cause a static spark. Titanium is extremely tough, durable, and hard to work with.

These knives will not have the same potential for extreme sharpness as steel, although they will just about shave the hair off of your arm.  They will, however, outcut and outlast the steel edge of any knife that exists. They are offered with an optional sheath that can be used with a belt clip or direct-mounted to your bike’s cargo or bottle bosses.

The Titanium Pack Knife weighs 27g without its lanyard, so packing it is a no-brainer!
