Colorado bag maker San Util just announced a new hip pack called the Whirlpool ($135)…
San Util makes some of our staff’s favorite packs. From the mini Covert V3 hip bag to the Roly Poly Handlebar Bag, to the Mini Panniers, this Colorado maker rolls out excellence from his small shop in Winter Park. New to the lineup is the Whirlpool Hip Pack, designed to carry a water bladder or bottle and all your riding essentials for a big day out.
It was designed with stability, comfort, and simplicity in mind. The name was picked because the pack is a water-carrying machine and is a roll-top closure, hence, The Whirlpool. Its wings are designed with as much area as possible to help distribute the heavy water load. They are sewn in at two points per wing to give them the flexibility to move to the rider’s body. The daisy chain webbing on the back is the perfect spot to strap a coat, carabiner your coffee mug, or clip some sunscreen. You can also take your sunglasses and put the arms through the webbing if you need a place to let them air out.
