If There Is a Gravel Heaven, All-City Cycles Is There

We lost a good brand last year. All-City Cycles’ parent company, Quality Bicycle Products, announced they’d be closing down the brand in 2024. After a heartfelt outpouring here on The Radavist, John penned an homage to the brand vis-à-vis some abstract photos of the All-City Cycles Cosmic Stallion Titanium and includes a note from Saisha Harris, All-City’s creative director, and final closing thoughts by Jeff Frane, the brand’s founder. Read on for this fond farewell…

All-City Cycles is Closing

A few shops have sent this into our editorial team today and we felt like the cat’s out of the bag after months of whispers. This news is sad, as The Radavist has featured so many of All-City‘s products over the years via custom builds and product launches. We’ve long been a fan of the company and as always, it’s a big bummer to see a steel-focused company shutter its doors.

The brand will no longer develop products after 2024 and will be retired in a few years. Check out the full email that QBP, All-City’s parent company, just sent to its dealer network below, edited for public visibility…

The 2022 All-City Gorilla Monsoon Comes in a GRX or Apex Build Kit and New Colors

All-City’s Gorilla Monsoon is a do-it-all adventure bike. Touring? Sure! Gravel? Yep! For 2022, the famed chassis got two new build kit options and two new paint jobs. Shimano’s GRX ($2,950) in Aqua Seafoam or SRAM’s Apex ($2,499) in Charred Berry are what’s on the table. You can also buy just a frame if you have parts to build one up.

These bikes come in small to tall sizes, fit a 700c x 42mm or 27.5 x 2.4″ tires, have all the details you’ve come to love from All-City and best of all, dealers will be getting stock this fall. Head to All-City for more information.

Grand Rapids Urban Singletrack with Mitch Mileski, His All-City Electric Queen, and Grand Rapids Bicycle Company

Reportage

Grand Rapids Urban Singletrack with Mitch Mileski, His All-City Electric Queen, and Grand Rapids Bicycle Company

In addition to riding some amazing purpose-built singletrack in my former hometown of West Michigan this past summer (more on that to come!), another highlight was linking up with Mitch Mileski for a very unexpected type of trail riding. Mitch manages the Fulton Street location of the Grand Rapids Bicycle Co. and, having also grown up in Grand Rapids (just much more recently than me) he knows the city very well and was generous to show off a few hidden gems. I met up with Mitch early on a moody weekday morning with a typical summer weather forecast calling for a 50% chance of precipitation.
