Brooks and Brompton Team Up for the Tokyo Olympics

To commemorate the approaching Tokyo Olympics, two British cycling companies have teamed up on a limited edition Team GB bike and matching saddle.

Since the 2012 Olympics in London, Brompton has been providing British athletes with their famous folding bikes for use around the various training centers and Olympic villages. Now these Team GB bikes and saddles are available to the public.

The Brompton bikes themselves feature a first-ever red-lacquer finish with white and blue detailing in line with the team’s classic colors. Crowned with comfort, Brooks has redesigned their C-17 saddle to proudly display the roaring lion logo of Team GB across its vulcanized rubber surface.

You can secure your own Team GB edition Brompton Bike and Brooks Saddle at the Brompton Junction shop in London or through the Brompton website, or you can pick them up online at Brompton.

Kyle’s Swift x Kona Rove ST Special Edition Touring Bike

My bud Kyle Klain picked one of these up from the Broken Spoke here in Santa Fe when they first dropped. It’s been his bikefishing mobile and commuter before upgrading a few crucial components this year. To test out my new camera setup (more on that later) I met up with Kyle at his office and took his bike for a quick shoot…

Like all bikes, it’s going through various iterations over the years, with what you’re seeing now being the most current and arguably the best. I guess it depends how the parts bin and jewelry box are lookin’ ya know?

Brooks C17 Black and Copper

Throwing back to their heritage of hand-hammered copper rivets and jet black leather, Brooks has just stocked a unique C17 Cambium saddle with copper hardware, which looks great contrasted against the black C17 fabric. Unleash your inner steampunk, or match those sweet i9 wheels you snagged last year. See these in person at your local dealer and check out more at Brooks.

This Cub House Built Crust Bikes Lightning Bolt Cruiser Shines!

What do you get when Bené, aka Ultra Romance, aka Ronnie McFly, aka Glistening Gandolf coerces an XC/roadie racer boi into embracing the long and slow lifestyle? Well, you’re about to find out. While Benedict and Sean from Team Dream were working closely on those nifty merino wool bib shorts, Benedict convinced Sean with his silver tongue to build up a dream bike. A veritable ex-roadie 2.0 cruiser, complete with all the iconic componentry of MTB and randonneuring’s heyday, which pinch me if I’m wrong, is always the present time. What you see here is the result of much toodlin’ and many man hours spent scrounging for parts. All aboard a Crust Bikes Lightning Bolt.

Even with DK getting as much coverage as the TDF, I trust the pace of the news these days has left your mind blank of such cognizance once again.  That’s good, as my memory of competing in the event 2 years ago has also been selectively erased, perhaps that’s why I reluctantly agreed to participate in this particular edition.
