This morning Campagnolo announced their 13-speed gravel groupset dubbed Ekar and similarly, brands rolled out their build kit offerings with the new group. Sage Titanium is one of those brands and they now offer Ekar on their two gravel models, the Barlow race machine and the monster gravel machine, the Storm King. You can now build a Storm King as pictured with Ekar, a dropper, Shamal wheels, and the whole 9, err 13, for $9,500. It might not be for everyone’s budget but it sure is nice to look at! The Basso Tera looks to the rocky roads, the rutted descents, and the washboarded doubletrack and offers up a multi-material construction chassis with an aluminum frame, a carbon rear triangle, and a carbon fork. It’s available as a sporty drop bar version in raw aluminum…

… or a flat bar in a mint green. The pivot design allows for 8mm of flex in the rear triangle, will clear a 45mm 700c tire, has four bottle cage mounts and is designed to have a spacious front triangle for a large frame bag.

Colt Fetters and his partner toured from Bologna to Rome last June. Alternating between following the Italy Divide and the Tuscany Trail, they embraced the credit card style of touring and spent time experiencing the culture of this beautiful country… check out the first of five videos here! Italy is loosening up their restrictions and today is the first day 3T is returning to their production facilities in Bergamo, Italy. The entire team is donning PPE and getting back to making bikes and cranks. ‘The Wolf’s Lair’ is a 400 km bikepacking route that winds through medieval castles, alpine scenery and ancient Italian villages in the Apennines mountains. The Montanus duo traced that route in 2016, after they felt the need to explore deeper Abruzzo region to learn more about their culture and origins. Giorgio and Francesco are back on The Wolf’s Lair to film the experience and show the hidden beauty that fascinated them three years before.

Saturday, the 9th and Sunday, the 10th of May, 2020 brings about the fifth edition of the Rando Imperator, a European Randonnée from Germany to Italy. The event is part of the official Italian Audax calendar offering three different brevet courses: Munich-Ferrara (600km), Munich-Bozen (300km), Bozen-Ferrara (300km) and Bozen-Mantua (200km). With the Dolomites as the backdrop, the Veneto Trail is equal parts hard, as it is stunning. This year’s route – which changes each year – totals 450km of distance with over 10,000 meters of elevation. Mark your calendars for June 27th, 2020!

While PEdAL ED might be best known for its luxurious, form-fitting lycra attire, the brand has just released a more relaxed line of cycling apparel dubbed the Jary collection. The entire kit looks great with vibrant colors and a fit more in-tune with casual dirt rides to bikepacking. The road riding vibes are strong here and the video really captures what it’s like to take on a big, hard ride.

While a lot of attention has been put into stable support mechanisms for saddle packs, there have been few attempts at solid cargo carrying methods for handlebar bags.
