Spaghetti Western: A XCR Tommasini X Fire Disc Road Build

What do you call a stainless Italian disc road bike, built with Cinelli and Campagnolo, right here in Santa Fe? Spaghetti Western? Sure, why not?

Mellow Velo, purveyors of modern bikes, with a long history of building up classic Italian road racing machines, recently completed this build for a customer back on the East Coast. Adam, the owner of the bike, refinishes mouthpieces for saxophones, so as you can imagine, he has a particular penchant for procuring pristine pedal machines like this one. Luckily for him, David from Mellow Velo has a soft spot for modern Italian-made frames.

3T Gets Back to Work and Raffles Off a Harlequin Exploro Arlecchino

Italy is loosening up their restrictions and today is the first day 3T is returning to their production facilities in Bergamo, Italy. The entire team is donning PPE and getting back to making bikes and cranks. On the docket for today is to kick-start production of their popular Torno Cranks and to give away this special edition Harlequin Exploro Arlecchino!

A little backstory here. Bergamo, 3T’s hometown, is where the medieval Harlequin was born. 3T chose Harlequin’s outfit to dress their Exploro in this bright paint job. Now, it might be a little much for some of you, but who looks a gift horse in its mouth? Especially with a build kit like that!

This bike is built with a Sram Force/Eagle AXS 12-speed electronic group, 3T DiscusPlus i28 LTD carbon wheels, the latest 3T Aeroghiaia handlebar, and the VERY FIRST Torno crank that comes out of our re-started factory today. The total value is EUR/USD $8,500 and you can enter to win this bike for free. All you’ve got to do is sign up for 3T’s mailing list.

Dust in the Wind: Six Months of Bliss on the Bice Biycles Wandrian 29er Gravel Bike

Back in the summer of 2011, Dario took off on a solo tour, from his home town to Rome and back. This tour totaled over 2072.7km and changed the way he looked at the world. Tours and long rides on a bike are like that. Those long hours pedaling can really bring out the creative juices. The endorphins, the sights, sounds, smells, and the people you meet on the road broaden your perspective. You’ll often hear of these experiences as being life-altering and for good reason.

While in Rome, Dario met the team at Associazione Ex-Lavanderia, a bicycle frame building school and when he returned home, be began welding. Many hours were spent perfecting the art and over the past few years, Dario has had many teachers to aid his torch. Mattia (Legor), Dario Pegoretti, Gianni Gilardi and Preda, Stucchi and Perego have all passed down their knowledge to Dario.

When the time was ready, he launched Bice Bicycles where Dario builds road, all-road, gravel, touring, and mountain bikes. I was set up with a review of his most interesting offering, the Wandrian, through Biciclista, the US distributor for Bice Bicycles and Ingrid Components.

Giorgio and Francesco are back on The Wolf’s Lair to film the experience and show the hidden beauty that fascinated them three years before.

A Look at PEdAL ED’s All-Road Jary Collection

While PEdAL ED might be best known for its luxurious, form-fitting lycra attire, the brand has just released a more relaxed line of cycling apparel dubbed the Jary collection. This includes a short-sleeve merino t-shirt, a long-sleeve merino t, jacket, and riding shorts. The entire kit looks great with vibrant colors and a fit more in-tune with casual dirt rides to bikepacking. If I do say so myself, this is the best looking launch from the brand and I can’t wait to see some of it in person. Head to PEdAL ED now to check it out and see more photos below.

While a lot of attention has been put into stable support mechanisms for saddle packs, there have been few attempts at solid cargo carrying methods for handlebar bags. Vapcycling’s Butterfly Guns system is being used on the Silk Road Race as I’m typing this. It offers a stable and secure way to carry up to 10 liter dry bags. The kit is available in either a drop bar or a flat bar application with a standard bag size or a small bag size, to ensure your kit is as dialed as it can be. The unique support rack allows for the mounting of lights in front of the bag, is made in Italy, and in stock now at Vapcycling.
