Readers’ Rides: Reese’s Repaired Omnium Mini-Max Rides On

There’s nothing more wholesome than seeing someone use a bicycle for absolutely every daily task and errand that life throws at them. Stolen Garage: Multidisciplinary Velo Cafe, Bike Shop, and Framebuilders in Paris, France

Located in the heart of Paris, France, Stolen Garage is an innovative multidisciplinary space, or “lieu hybride,” in French. It brings together a variety of disciplines under one roof. The venue combines a café/bistro, bike shop, fully-equipped repair workshop, and a custom frame building and painting studio.

To accompany Josh’s photographic documentation of the Stolen Garage space, we tapped co-owner Finlay Skillen to pen an overview of their background and unique approach to building community and inspiring creativity around a love for bicycles in Paris.

Behold the $28,900.00 Louis Vuitton by Maison Tamboite City Bike

The next time you balk at the price of a custom bike we feature here all too often, just remember that this exists. For a whopping $28,900.00 USD, you could throw your leg over this Louis Vuitton by Maison Tamboite city bike. The frameset is made by Maison Tamboite, a Paris-based builder that has been making bikes in-house since 1912. The product/spec information is cryptic, citing “61 x 39.4 x 19.7 inches” for the dimensions of the bike, a “2-speed” crankset, and of course, the “crutch and bell”. If the black, brown, and chrome are too bland for your taste, there are other options, including a Urs Fischer-designed step-through bike. Each model comes with LV monogram leather features.

Paris-Brest-Paris 2019: C’est Exactement ca et Rien d’Autre

When I quit cycling for the first time in my life I was 21 years old. I´ve been loving it for some 18 years or so. But by that time, I was completely exhausted by a bicycle messenger scheme here in Germany that left me on the edge of homelessness. This was already ten years after I decided that the testosterone-fueled parental/official road cycling system of the same country was nothing for me…

Photos and words by Kyle Kelley

It’s been almost a year since I went to France with Sean Talkington of Team Dream Bicycling Team, Ace Carretero from The Sleepers, Tebow the Enduro Pro (a.k.a Team Dream / Ringtail Intern) and Mavic Cycling to follow the Tour De France. This trip was life-changing for me and not a day goes by that I don’t think about something or a moment from this trip. It’s probably the fact that I have all of these French friends on Instagram now, or maybe it’s because I had the best meal of my life there at Miznon (that roasted cauliflower…I hear there’s one in NYC now!)

Whatever it is or was…holy cow…that was an amazing time!

Roughly 8 or maybe even 9 years ago (it’s a bit fuzzy after all these years) I started working at a bicycle shop in LA called Orange 20. The shop manager at the time Mr. Kyle Kelley aka Trackosaurus Rex hired me to work in the new larger space they had just rented. Soon after that, Ace Carreterro aka The Sleepers came on board. Ace and I were both sales associates who ended up working pretty much the same weekly schedule with Kyle. I had very little in common with the two of them.

A follow up to: Kevin Sparrow Discusses the Fuji X-Pro1 and Cycling

It has been over two years since I switched over from Canon DSLR to the Fuji X-Pro1 and I haven’t looked back. I’ve traveled all over the world with this camera. I rode from Paris to Lausanne with her slung around my back. I’ve shot photos for commercial clients and for publications. This little camera has more than met my expectations as a professional use camera.
