The Radavist’s Top 10 Readers’ Rides of 2021

2021 was an exceptional year for our Readers’ Rides series, which we first began posting back in 2011. Last year’s readership-submitted bikes ran the gamut, much like our Top 10 Beautiful Bicycles, but Readers’ Rides is 100% audience-submitted. We love receiving submissions each week so if you were on the fence about submitting your ride, perhaps this list will motivate you to break out the camera. This list was compiled by web traffic and comments. Let’s check out the Top Ten Readers’ Rides of 2021 below, in no particular order…

A Tomii Cycles… Roof Rack?

Nao Tomii loves to design racks. Racks for his Fat Canvas custom bikes and in this case, for his Renault 4. When Nao posted this on his Instagram, we reached out to see if he’d send some photos to us. He did and so we’re here, sharing this beautiful creation. Check out some more photos below.

The 2021 ENVE Builder Round Up: Chumba, Falconer, Firefly, Mariposa, Scarab, Sklar, Tomii

It’s that time of year again! ENVE’s Open House, aka the Builder Round-Up and Grodeo event is this weekend in Ogden, Utah, so I packed up my bike portrait kit and drove up through beautiful summer monsoons to document a selection of bikes from this year’s event. Check out a thoroughly documented stable from the Round Up below, beginning with Chumba, Falconer, Firefly, Mariposa, Scarab, Sklar, and Tomii…

Tomii Cycles Showcase: Elvin’s Sportif Pass Hunter

Tomii Cycles Showcase: Elvin’s Sportif Pass Hunter

This year was to be the first year Nao Tomii of Tomii Cycles was going to attend NAHBS. For a small builder like Nao, spending the kind of money it takes to pull a seat up to the table of the USA’s largest hand made bicycle show takes a lot of financial planning, so when NAHBS was postponed this year, Tomii Cycles wouldn’t be able to attend. Most builders display customer’s bikes at NAHBS and asking his clients to wait four more months for their bikes, especially during a pandemic was out of the question. I reached out to Nao and asked if we could display his bikes here at the Radavist, so we’re doing just that…

Nao’s Own Tomii Cycles Chubby Road

Nao’s Own Tomii Cycles Chubby Road

Yesterday we took a deep dive into the shop of Tomii Cycles. Typically, builders use their own bikes to experiment and explore ideas, concepts, and construction techniques they’ll later use on their client’s bikes. This reasoning is why I always gravitate towards a builder’s own bike when I’m visiting a shop.
