The 2013 All City Championship Track Crit

Reportage

The 2013 All City Championship Track Crit

Track bike crits have become all the rage at local city events. These high-speed, high-tension races are enjoyed by all and offer up a taste of what it’s like to not only race in a road criterium, but also track racing. For the 2013 All City Championship, Jeff put on a track crit, to replace his normal match sprints. 50 or so racers entered, over a hundred were there to spectate and it was a great time. I haven’t had that much fun at a bike event in a while!

Mash SF: Parallax Frameset

Here’s the production sample for the bike that the Mash team has been riding for the past year and a half. Dubbed the Parallax, here’s the scoop from Mash:

“We are happy to introduce our 2014 offering with Cinelli. The Parallax frame set was developed and field-tested over the past 18 months, with Chas and Walton deciding and tuning the bike’s geos. Like with any MASH project, every detail is fleshed by our group of friends. Garrett designed the graphics and colors of the bike and matching skin-suit, drawing inspiration from charts used to check the sharpness of camera optics. Enclosed are some details from this collaboration. Look for more updates as the racers prepare for the third installment of the Red Hook Crit series here, in Barcelona.”

Minneapolis #PartyBrand Video Dump

I’m pretty busy in Minneapolis trying to document the All City Championships for the #PartyBrand, and I didn’t want to slack off on the site too hard, so here are some videos to hold you over. They all won’t have an introduction, but I will say I’m very stoked on Hammer Down, a new FGFS blog.

Stanridge Speed x Death Spray Custom Highstreet Track

Reportage

Stanridge Speed x Death Spray Custom Highstreet Track

Like a true artist, each and every piece that leaves Death Spray Custom has a concept, or a story behind it. When you first see this Stanridge Speed Highstreet, however, you might just end up scratching your head. Even though the concept is crystal clear. Let me elaborate.

A few years ago, when Dan Chabanov first received his Highstreet to race at the Red Hook Crit, the initial reaction someone had to the frame was “that’s not steel”. All it took was a magnet to prove it was, in fact, steel. When I walked in the doors at King Kog hours later, the magnet was still on the seat tube. Adam from Stanridge told David at DSC and he went wild with it.

Simple enough right? That’s the beauty of true art. It’s simple. The execution though, must be flawless and this bike is just that. Flawless. Well, that was until it flew over the barricade at the Red Hook Crit Navy Yard!

This machine has seen its share of races, spills and thrills. It’s not a wall-hanger, it comes alive at the Red Hook Crit. If you’re going to be at the Red Hook Crit Milan or Barcelona, you’ll be able to catch this bike in person. If not, see more in the Gallery!

Factory 5: Prototype Track Chainring

The crew at Shanghai-based Factory 5 are some talented folks. They’ve been working on designing, developing and fabricating track bike goods in China. For them, it’s actually quite an easy task because they live just miles from the factories. One of their recent developments is this precision CNC milled, intricate dual-plane lattice cutout, prototype 7075 aluminium track chainring that weighs less than 80g.

So solid guys! I’ll post more once they’re available.
